Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

don't get all butt hurt girlfriend. these will soon be easily available from the best moped parts store in the US. If you read my posts you will of course know who i am talking about. As for now, this is the only Malossi Peugeot CDI in the USA as far as i know. I'm going to attempt install tonight. and i'll measure those bolts.

kirk

Nah bro, it's cool. I don't even own a Peugeot, so I could care less where you got the parts.

It was just a general rant about secretivity.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

It's the same as a Tomos unit from what I can recall, a bolt one, probably means that Tomos copied Peugeot.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

It will be a cold day in hell before I spend $250 just to get rid of the points, not when there are replacement solid state ignitions available, that could be adapted, throught the motor equipment repair industry for a lot less.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

Shit. I just put a $150 CDI on my peugeot and I have no regrets. Electronic ignition is just better then points.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

It is and it isn't, it is in the fact that there isn't any maintenance involved, and that you do not end up with points floating at high speed (not a factor in a vehicle that can't top 45mph) but it isn't in the fact that if something in the control unit frys you are calling for a ride. One advantage with a point ignition is that you can usaully jerry rig them to work at the roadside if something stops working, on the CDIs there is nothing you can do but pedal and phone for a ride. If the cost could be brought down I would entertain the idea, otherwise I would adapt a unit from something else or build one.

Re: shhhhhhh! super top secret.

Its a common size bolt spacing, daelim reed valve motors, peugeot reed valve motors, tomos reed valve motors, Polini puch cylinders, and I belive some pocket bikes.
