Honda Hobbit / PA50 Variator Upgrade Source?

Raymond Rexroad /

Does anybody have a source for the Honda Camino variator?

Of course, the only part we need is the moveable drive face - the one with 6 rollers. I've been watching the Euro ebay sites, and haven't seen any come up yet.

I'm going to start "joining" the various Euro forums, but was hoping that somebody may have already found a source (used or new - doesn't matter).

In addition, I've been looking for the Honda Part Number for the 6-roller moveable drive face - haven't found that either.

Only source I am aware of is www.50cc.nl

50cc.nl does not have the part(s) that I am looking for. I does sell a performance ramp plate, but not the movable drive face.

Used is most likely my best option, unless I find that I can buy a Honda part AND it isn't too expensive. I expect that the Honda part will be about $75.

Nope - he doesn't have 'em either.

I have one....PA50II variator/ramp plate/assembly...used, but works fine...note: it is missing the tiny little rubber U bushing as you can see in the photo...$40 plus shipping to the US.

Let me know. If you are not interested, I am posting to ebay. You may want to wait and possibly get a better price there.

6 roller scooter ones work with mods.

I bet this works... the ramp plate will need mod for this to work. I have seen this on german sites. I am told that the rear gears from a jog fit the casing of the pa50II. I read that on a south american forums.

Re: Honda Hobbit / PA50 Variator Upgrade Source?

Go get the capliers and measure yours and email them about the specs on the hole. The plate must be mod so no questions about its a hands on fitting deal.

The hole is slightly over 30mm. Most variators (like the one listed above on ebay), are too small. I've seen that some people that bore out a variator like this, to the point that the bronze bearing material is gone. I don't want to do that.

I just want a source for a Honda Camino movable drive face - either stock and new (preferred), or used by in good shape.

Re: Honda Hobbit / PA50 Variator Upgrade Source?

I wouldnt jump the gun I found out the size of that hole. Plain and simple. Don't shoot them down until you have a email them about it. Thats me.

There alot of reading there. Take the time to translate.

Yes - I have already done that. By e-mail, the other "performance" variators have holes that are smaller, and will not fit.

I am aware of this site. I've spent quite a few hours translating all this stuff.

If you look at the picture you provided, the movable drive face on the left has been bored out, and there is no bronze bearing material remaining.

I'm trying to avoid this.

The bearing material is there for a reason. I'm not saying it won't work without it, but it won't work as long. The "pot metal" of the drive face wasn't intended to be a bearing surface.

So again and in summary, I'm looking for a source for a stock 6-roller movable drive face from a Honda Camino.

This is a USA 3-roller movable drive face.

Already have that.

Want better.

Want 6-roller design.
