pa50I carb help

i have a pa50I with a 72cc kit with a custom pipe on it, my question is the carb is giving me troubles the float is either stuck open or stuck close and i have cleaned it, not sure what the deal is should i piss around with the 10mm carb or upgrade to the 12mm on pa50II or should i go even bigger, if so what is to big. i need answers. thanks

Re: pa50I carb help

definetly get the pa50II carb or even bigger would be better for a 72cc kit...if you can fit it in under the frame...you could get the 21mm kit that JC has (i think its from 50cc.nl)

what pipe you got on there?

Re: pa50I carb help

it started as 125cc ktm pipe but i modified it so it works on there

Re: pa50I carb help

It could be that the float-mount is a little bent or isn't totally smooth anymore.

Is your float bowl on correctly? The bowl drain screw must be on the right side of the moped.

Re: pa50I carb help

on the right side when your sitting on the moped?

Yes, the right side when sitting on the moped.

Re: pa50I carb help

i kindof got it running but im thinking a larger carb is a must. does anyone know of a inexpensive carb?

Re: pa50I carb help

there are lots of inexpensive carbs its just getting it to fit under the frame which is the problem...oh and modifying the intake to fit a new carb

treatshq has a good carb on ebay for about $150.

If that is too rich for you, I'd still find and install a stock PA50II carb, then jet up/down as you need to. According to some other sites, the 12mm carb is described as somewhat oversized for the stock motor/setup. I can't confirm or deny these other statements, so accept them - or not.

Granted, you won't get the same output as from the 21mm carb that treatshq had, but it will work.

Re: pa50I carb help

I'm pretty sure the drain screw goes on the left side of the moped, the opposite side of the choke lever. At least that's what it looks like from the manual.

Another thing, is it even possible to fit another bigger carb in there?

I have a 70 cc kit on mine and I've been thinking about getting a Delorto. But I figured that I would have to pound out the plate that the carb scrunches up against, leaving the part that is facing the wheel. You know, for more room.

Re: pa50I carb help

i checked mine and it was facing towards the left side and when i turned it around it fired right up so it is suppose to face towards the right side.

Re: pa50I carb help

i am looking a 18mm carb but i was wondering what do most people have for the main jet size.

No - the drain screw is supposed to point to right (as sitting on the ped facing forward).

There is actually a hole in the frame on the right side, through which you can reach the screw (with a long skinny screwdriver). I presume that the hole is provided so that you can empty the bowl in preparation for storage (etc).

No such hole on the left side.

I did the same thing, looked at the manual, then pointed it to the left, experienced problems, then figured it out.

Gotta go to the right!
