I did my pipe first so can't say for sure, have you read gordon jennings two stroke tuners handbook? read the fixing and tuning wiki and search both forums and read all about it make sure you understand how it works etc etc blah blah usual disclaimer...the unusual is i will follow it with the best answer i can give you, maybe itll start a trend on the forums...lol
anyway, as read in above book always start with a jet you know will be way too big, from my experience i can tell you that i think that the 66 that comes with that carb will probably be too rich, then downjet in steps untill it stops four stroking and bogging at low end, then mid range, then even full throttle, then start doing plug chops and downjet untill the mix is right. I think itll prolly be in the mid fifties to sixties, so get a handfull of jets in that range.
try a 60 to start it will be rich, but then you can go down from there.
That's reasonable advice. The TFR stock jet is 45. A 66 seems to work pretty well on my bike (13.13 carb + high airflow filter+ kit + pipe).
careful brian, the kinetictfr.com guy seized his new 70cc kit with the stock 66 jet in the 13.13, he was runnin proma circuit tho and you may be runnin smaller kit and or pipe.
nope, looked at your profile, same setup, and we are at sea level and it's getting cold, so careful :)
I've soft-siezed my bike a few times, though it was due to an exhaust leak.
With no leaks, my plug chops come out perfect.
How do you get that clamp-on exhaust to seal completely anyway.
Does the bike really perform better with just the 13/13 Carb? I am thinking about upgrading the carb.
no, i tried a 12 and it did nothing, so i doubt the 13 will do anything.
you will probably end up on a 52 or 53. i tried one setup where i had just drilled holes in the exhaust and taken off the airbox, with a 12 carb it was a 51 jet.
yeah, get a pipe and find a way to make it fit on there... that will give you WAY more speed than messing with high flow airfilters or whatever.
