morini set up help

ok so here's the deal. I have a rare engine I guess. I have a NVT Easy rider with Motori Franco Morini engine. I looked all over the world for a kit and finaly found one in Italy but now the guy at my moped shop says it would be risky to install it because my engine has miles on it. It's a Polini 43mm kit (about 60cc?) Anyway, it's stock right now and does 30-35mph. I'm going to put on a Homoet 4p for sure. I'm thinking about getting a Dellorto 15.15 to replace my 14.12 but they don't make larger intake manifolds (that I know of). Should I get it anyway? I just got a new fancy gold chain made by EK and some new tires. This is my first moped and I like fighting to find what I need but I don't want to waste my money because I don't have much. Any suggestions?

yah i was going to put on new pipe on and a bigger carb on my pacer since its hard to find a kit for morini. but i ran into the same

problem as well. i dont know what intake is out there that would fit so you might have to fabricate on yourself..mayb you could find

one since you found a kit.

Re: morini set up help

I recently bought a Pacer from a friend. We were checking to see if we could alter a 15 manifold to fit the Morini engine when we discovered that the stock manifold was in fact a 14. The original carb was a 14/12 so we slapped a 15/15 on it and saw a definate improvement. I'm either going to buy a 14/14 carb or go ahead and bore my manifold out to 15. Check it out and see if you don't have the same luck. If not I can tell you that you can find a 14 intake manifold... maybe even on your own bike.

Re: morini set up help

Call BJ at Handy Bikes! He has a stack of 14mm intake manifolds for Franco Morini Piston Port engines. Not reedvalve case inducted ones, mind you. I have one and it made a large difference with a 14:14 over my 9mm intake and 14:9.

Oh, and get the kit anyway, just replace the bearings and seals in the engine when you have it torn down to case match. Not hard and totally worth it!

Re: morini set up help

I don't think I can afford all of that yet....

Re: morini set up help

so I took my moped in today.... I'm putting on new tires, a chain (gold!), and a homoet 4p, I think my next step is to find a 14mm intake and get a 15.15 Dellorto. My moped guy told me he would see how it runs and let me know if it's worth the risk of adding the kit. Does that sound reasonable?

did you at least upjet when you adding the pipe? dont want to hurt the stock motor any just in case you chose to go that route..

Re: morini set up help

yeah it's going to be upjeted (is that a word?)

Re: morini set up help

ok so I put on the homoet 4p and upjeted. New tires and fancy chain. $365 later.... not much. I found out my intake is only 10mm and I'm putting on a 12mm ported to about 13.5mm and this guy is getting me a 14.14 carb (I have a 14.12) you think that'll do the trick?

Re: morini set up help

oh and my low end sucks balls (it did before too)

Re: morini set up help

Drill out your intake with a 9/16 bit..it's a straight intake and easy to do

Re: morini set up help
