I'm a little paranoid about getting pulled over and I'm pondering having a family friend weld on mounts for the MB5 motor. Should be light as frizuck. By my preliminary sizing-up it might work.
Will the frame flex much? Should I go ahead and weld in a crossbar while I'm at it?
I would be mostly worried with those crappy brakes. I would also suggest doing that crossbar either way. 50mph on that tiny tube frame, no thanks
Thanks for the advice. I'd probably try to move the forks and swingarm over from the MB5 to the Express frame.
Just move the vin tag from the Honda Express to the MB5.
It could say FORD for all the cop cares, he won't know anything about mopeds.

As long as you have a plate and insurance on it, what difference does it make to the officer?

I'd just say I rather take my chances with a ticket than with dying from an express frame breaking in half from the MB5. Aside from that, the Express engine/rear wheel is all one unit, and a mono shock. I have no idea how you would put a swing arm onto that frame and squeeze a wheel in there. Why not just cut the express frame, and weld in onto the MB5 like a skin. ? : )
Be sure to get a decal set that says honda Express and put them on the MB5. With the stickers on the bike it will match the registration description if you get pulled over to avoid any confusion about what it is.
i have my garelli plates that i switch interchangably with ALL my mopeds....none of which say garelli, i've been pulled over, and he let me go. no big deal, they aren't going to hassle much over details
