Tried that route, realized that it is far better just to buy a moped. I still have the half-finished project (which will see the light of day eventually...) but realized what I spent in parts and headache building and designing, I could have plopped the $$ down for a decent fixer upper moped. If you have that do-it-yourself drive, then by all means, go for it. Look in the Custom section of the Photos, there are some franken-mopeds there that will give you some ideas on how to accomplish your goal.
You mean attaching a moped engine to a standard bicycle frame? It can be done but will require welding and fabrication. There are motors however that are designed to bolt right on. Bike bug, sears free spirit (bicycle engine, not moped) chicken power are older front mount engines that can be had for a deal. Newer engine such as rear mount honda 4 strokes, frame mount Chinese 2 or 4 strokes can also be had. Electric kits are also available. Check your local laws first to make sure you can legally ride one of these home built bikes.
you'll definitely want a real moped hub and real moped brakes
