thanks. i have a snap~on variable speed die grinder and a suitcase of bits and such. to be honest, it took all of about an hour to get it to this. i still have a bit more to go

The 80 metra piston has a long skirt. It's edges will hit the case at the lower corners (exhaust side). I found this out the hard way and now have 2 small pieces missing from my piston.

Best way to test for fit: take the lower case half, install the piston onto the crank and slap it into place in the case. Then just install the cylinder and turn the crank over until you are at bdc. You should see the issue if you have not already fixed it in your grinding.

Looks good other than finishing it up with some file work and some sandpapar

thanks for the compliments/advise guys. i did think that BDC would be an issue, so payed close attention to that spot. hope to get it all together soon, and bolt it on this

do you think you've compromised the cases strength, i did more ramping angles to meet the size of the kit's transfers also and cut away from the sharp angles of the metal were they go into the crank, also your tig welding transfer leaks?

i think the case strength should be pretty good, i didnt get too close to any of the screw holes or anything like that, so i hope it will be ok. and i hope i am not copying someones rigid (sorta new here) i have 2 maxi's and really liked the rigid. my first kit was a 65cc metra and had fun building it, so i wanted to go all out with this. a bit off topic, but does anyone have a rear snowflake? i am almost to the point of calling mopedjunkyard and getting railed for one

Paz, how did you like the metra 80? what can i expect? i am using a 21mm dell and a homoet 4P

i custom made an intake from a water pipe from a 16V GLi. it has a 20 mm I/D so i thought that should work well. you will notice it is on a bit of an angle, i did this to match the ramp of the merta intake port.it is going to mount in the stock location for the most part, its a bit taller to allow the dellorto to clear the case. the piston does not hit anything. i did a 'skeleton' assembly to make sure nothing hit a BDC

well, back to ebay........

I have not run this motor yet. But on the first trial assembly the piston did hit those spots.. I took it apart and reground until I felt comfortable with the clearance. I have no idea if it is to much or to little material from the case. I tried to match the existing ramp that was found in the case to start. I did not go crazy with the dremal, I hope it pays of in the end, if it does not I can always take out more..
