my express averages out around 22-25 on flat ground, but no longer has a proper exhaust pipe. how much will it help to install a real one? past that are there any SIMPLE guidlines to help it go faster? thanks.

A two stroke engine requires the back pressure of an exhaust system to function properly. Without it, a great deal of the fuel ends up spraying out the exhaust port unburned.
Putting the stock exhaust back on and cleaning out the carb/auto choke box should bring your top speed up in the area of 30.
thanks, i was wondering why i was burning through oil so quickly.
is it relatively easy to install the new exhaust? if you couldnt tell im very new to repair.
bolts on with two bolts, can probably do it blindfolded
Two bolts and two nuts, actually, but still, it's quite easy.
