Boost Bottle Installed Pic

so yea after not that much work i got the boost bottle on, Its the 70-100cc bottle. I had to drill out the oil inj hole to 3/8 then just screw in the fitting and it made its own threads. But to make it fir i had to dremel off 2 notches on the fitting so it would clear under the frame. then while i was at it i replaced the flange on the 16/16 carb because they come with a 45 degree bend so i ut the stock 14/12 flange on, (where the gas comes into the carb) then i also changed the black lpastic cap for more clearence. I havent been able to test it because ive been waiting a month for my techno circut to come in at MWH. Then i also got a halogen bulb for my head light at pepboys, it was liek $17 then got 2 fogs, they were $25 i think. Everything is wired, they look ok now but probabaly will look better with the front fender on and spoked rims with white walls.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

I'd mount the boost bottle on the down tube, with the shortest hose possible but thats me. I've heard they should be mounted above the cylinder with the fitting should be on the bottom for best results. That is if you believe they provide a noticeable gain.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

Call me ignorant, but what exactly is the idea behind a boost bottle?

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

HOW DOES THIS BOOST BOTTLE WORK?

Good question! As the engine draws fuel and air in through the carb on the intake cycle, the spark plug fires this mixture forcing the piston down and forcing a small amount of air/fuel back into the the carb.. As the air and fuel mix is forced back through the carb and intake manifold, it causes a double rich mixture which can result in a rough idle, hesitation. Basically, burning your already burnt fuel again which provides little or no oxygen to burn, therefore resulting in bogging/ sluggish, throttle response.

To take advantage of this pulse this Boost Bottle kit provides storage for this pre-atomized fuel air mixture. leaving it fresh and unburnt, As the piston makes it next cycle and draws a new fuel and air supply into the cylinder the energy (pulse) that is stored in the bottle returns to the engine as a burst forcing the atomized fuel into the engine. This boost bottle will provide a "BOOST"or supercharge effect.

This boost bottle works best at lower and mid-range rpm, and, when you are on & off the throttle. The advantage is that it brings up the horsepower and torque in the bottom of the rpm range, to mid-way through the power band. (Eliminating bogging)

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

hmmm you must be doing something wrong, our engine doesnt bog when you jam on the throttle or at low rpm and it idles perfectly smooth. sounds like snake oil to fix bad tuning and crappy ignition.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

not snake oil, just maybe not noticeable in every installation

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

I think the idea is that they are designed for on/off throttle conditions, so like if you were racing on a tight track and went from full throttle to low speed constantly for the corners the incoming mix would try to reflect back somewhat. Its a highly debated subject, and gains are said to be sometimes too small to tell with the arse dyno. I believe if one were to see a gain, it would be from a piston ported engine, which do tend to spit back through the carb. Reed valve engines are designed not to do this because the reed acts like a one way valve. Either way, boost bottle sounds cool on your mod list.

Did this addition to my LX and felt like there was a noticable change in the on/off throttle response when we did the "Tail of the Dragon". Just for the heck of it I installed a valve in the line to the bottle and can run it either way. There is a definite difference in the engine note etc. when you switch back and forth. Fun exercise anyway and does no harm to experiment. On www.tomosmoped.com there is a good write up on the boost bottle and sizing which is critical to your cc size. In my opinion the bottle in the picture in the first thread is too big for a 63.7cc Airsal kit for the Tomos. You must also take into account the lenght of tubing and any sizing when you add the end caps. Copper tube is the best way to make these things.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

well ill have to see about putting it on the bottem of the frame and shortening the line. But the kit is ported with pretty crazy ports, then with a 16/16 carb and 86 jet in it(stock) it runs super rich or pretty rich should i say and having the straight intake i guess means not as much will be flaoting around in there but it should still do something, thats my guess, and yea it does sound sweet in the mods list lol. when the bike has an exhaust and i can ride it i will post on what the outcome was, problem is i havent ridden it before the bottel was instaled so yea.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

I've never seen a serious tuner bike with a boost bottle. What does that say to you?

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

Стев Браун /

Placebo effect.

Just because it makes a little sound and you "think" you're going faster, doesn't mean you are.

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

well im not sure i got a ride on the bike just now and wowwwwwww. i have a biturno loner pipe on it now so that i can get everything working, thanks chris mwh. but yea this thing hauls ASS wow i will get some pics of what it looks like up soon and also more imformation.

p.s the pwoer band on this thing is pretty crazy 2 seconds into 2nd and ur up at the top in no time. hehe so nice

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

must be the boost bottle

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

I

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

The only real advantage with the boost bottle is, that when you let off the throttle, then get back on the throttle, it has a quicker responce. And thats about it. It really only works for the reed valve engines. Brent

Re: Boost Bottle Installed Pic

With a 16mm inlet on the carb and a what?....1 or 2mm ID for the boost bottle tubing and hose nipples. Add in the conductance along a small tube and the resistance due to the pressure build up, you would be very lucky to get 5 percent of the back-wave going into the boost bottle. Not that that even translates to a 5% improvement in performance. Given the wrong length of tubing, you may even cause constructive interference with the back-wave and enhance the bogging problem.

There are better ways to enhance performance in a 2-stroke.
