help me chose an E50 kit.......

well, i am working on a winter project, and have been reading quit a bit, but would like more input. my first kit was a 65 metra, stuffed crank etc etc. here is what i am looking for

1 good take off

2 good carb, not looking to screw with another bing

3 decent crusing speed

4 somewhat reliable

i was leaning towards a 80cc metra, but heard the athena was a good kit, which i am unsure of, i have read alot about reed failures. DON'T want to start a war, just looking for some ideas

thanks~

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

Well, you might want to start with some new cases. A different kit is not going to match those cases.

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

metrakit has GREAT takeoff. before i lost the top of my carb i ran a dellorto phbg 21mm with a 110 jet i think and it was still too lean. never tuned it perfect. anyways that thing would keep up with cars off the line. of course i ran it with two speed but man that thing had crazy balls. in terms of reliability i think this kit is made for touring in comparison to the polini. polinis have great top end and rev real high but they only have one piston ring. if you read any of the two stroke handbook youll realize the metrakit was made for high compression cause it has 2 L (dykes) rings. im not too good with this but i think im right when i say the 2 rings make it really reliable. those guys that went to south america with polinis said there were better kits to go touring with. IF you do get a metrakit you will have to do some crazy port matching. i didnt match them 100 percent perfect and i did it with a dremel so it wasnt a hundred percent smooth. but if you can get your hands on a machinist do it right the first time. i gotta go but also if you do get it run the eprfect jetting and settings. when its lean it runs freaking amazing but then itll soft seize and youll shit yourself. as for top speed i have no idea how fast i went but ill tell you if i was jetted perfectly id be doing faster than my friends unportmatched polini

my new 80 metra e50 magnum is killing 2spd polinis off the line, i beat practically every car and some motorcylces. Amazing! do it! 21 delloroto, 80 metra, estoril. 110 jet is just too big everyone says mid 90's and i've got a 102 on break in and low gearing maybe if your want 50+ speeds for long runs but...

Are you shooting up 2t oil!? what the shit is that ,haha

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

well, looks like 2 for the metra.......

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

hey brandon i have lost the top of my carb and slide. can you see if there are part numbers on your 21mm carb cause i needa buy them and they came in different sizes and shapes. i only bought 110 as my biggest jet so i never got it perfect. i have to run that with the choke on too! not good :( i know im half assed but it ran so sweet at 3/4 throttle. under full throttle the thing would have no power though

4 stroking dude! part #? there some serial number sticker on the bowl? i'll look but haven't seen any other numbers on it. have you looked on the delloroto uk website?

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

I have a 19mm polini carb, but i'm facing the same issues. running too lean. I'm running at 108 and guessing I'll be at 116 by the time this is over haha.

Re: help me chose an E50 kit.......

brandon i think that serial number is exactly what i need. my bowl has a sticker on it but the gasoline washed the ink off. can you get back to me with that number as soon as you can please? thanks
