Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

ok, so wandering around a dutch site for vespa's i stumbled across this! its a vespa ciao that some dude is building up, now i don't speak dutch for shit but i was wondering if anyone here does, because i have a ciao. i don't know about those rims, but those EBR's on the front look TOUGH! anyone ever done this?

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

The rims have plastic covers, the ebrs do look great though.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

yeah man..i figured they were like bicycle inserts or something. but those front forks are sick! i gotta get in contact with the guy on how to weld up that frame brace too!

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

The forks look like MTN bike forks, but who knows over there. The wheels that you speak off I think are actaully disk wheel covers. They used to use covers on wheels in track and road bicycle racing but they do not anymore because they were found to be dangerous, a good side wind would literally blow the bike off the road.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

They sell frame braces at Quarter Kick now, I saw them last night.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

yeah, i didn't dig the disc mag wheel things...but i was wondering what forks they are. you could be right about them being mountain bike forks. i just ventured a guess about them being EBRs since they are all shiny and chrome like that. plus, it looks like the upper mount is a tripple tree. so is there a MTN bike with a tripple tree?

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

i wish people would stop attaching bmps to posts and convert them to jpg or png so that those of us with real browsers can see the pictures too.

ciao ebr's are still ebr's, kinda crappy. if you want good forks on your ciao, bolt on some bravo forks. oil bath and tough!

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

my bad cheif..work computer...i don't have file conversion capabilities.... dean i'll see what i can do. but they very well could be grand forks...i don't have a keen enough eye yet to tell the diffrence

JPEG format

figured a way around it. here ya go dean

Re: JPEG format

those are the ebr's

they look good, as ebr forks generally do, and are a far cry better than the stock forks.

Re: JPEG format

yeah, the stock forks on the ciao SUCK. other problem is, they are really wiggling around when riding at speeds. i tightened the crap out of the crown nut, and still have a lot of play. so i think i'm going to upgrade them to the EBRs or something of compatability

Re: JPEG format

Cory, I have a bravo front end that I'll sell ya. complete forks, fender, and wheel with brake stuff.

Re: JPEG format

if i can convince my GF to let me modify it i'm all about that! it's the ped i let her ride..i might take it back at some point...lol

Re: JPEG format

Cool man, they will be around. Just sitting on a shelf in my workshop.

Re: JPEG format

Links to places with these forks?

I'm on my mobile and don't feel like searching...

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Absolutely, Rock Shocks, Marizochi, and a few others make them. You don't get too many downhill bikes in Chicago but there was a fad on them here for a while and most had tripple trees. The chances are that if there are chromed steel moped ones around then they would be cheaper, the tripple treed mtn bike ones run from $600 to $1200 a set.

Re: JPEG format

well, hehe 1977mopeds. just regular EBR forks

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Yeah but downhill MTB forks are HELLA light=way more faster!

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

but got damn son! $600?? sheesh!

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

you could probably get a nice well used set for around 200 on the ebays.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Vespa si forks are the best. I've seen euro vespa si's with stock triple tree forks.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

The hardware on this ciao blows my mind... Found it in Germany.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

And, I just found the inspiration I was looking for...

Thanks Colin.

Ok, I will explain this whole situation on this specific EBR fork posted in the fist post.

It is a Puch Maxi EBR fork, like the ones I sell.

The guy isn't dutch, but is a friend of mine who actually lives in Sweden.

That specific Ciao from our website which was posted is this one;

He also has this one; 100cc engine Ciao like the one I had, and sell these engines if any one wants them :P.

Follow his project here, if you can read Swedish..

Here is my custom Vespa Ciao (Italia) which has the official Vespa Ciao EBR fork...

That would be this one which I sell; 160 dollars.

These are the Puch Maxi versions I have; short or long, 77 dollars+-

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Yeah, I think that's the sweetest moped I've seen in my life. I wonder how they grafted the hydraulic disk brake to a si mag. I'm pretty sure that's the 100cc simonini engine, it's huge and I've never seen another kit like it. The seat tube is pretty custom as well as the frame brace.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Colin,

Are you refering to this moped?

It's great alright... but the cnc work and discbrake customization can still be done better and/or in a neater way...

The 100cc engine (officially 83cc's) is great! Only two engines which are dominating it at the moment; the new Simonini engine (similar but faster) and my engine, the Franco Sprocatti Motori (liquid cooled etc., have pics, also of my double discbrake system)...

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

what are the disc brakes from? im trying to come up with a similar mod

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

check out the speed on this guy's Derbi

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

Yeah, but that Derbi is a 6 speed motard...not a moped.

Re: Vespa Ciao EBR forks!!(pic inside!!)

oh? my bad I thought it was a moped. Derbi makes both mopeds and...whatever a motart is. What's a motart?
