sprocket change question

i will be switching rear sprockets on my 08 tomos lx from a 28 to a 22. how much of a difference in torque should i expext to see?

Re: sprocket change question

I am kinda new to this myself, but here goes. Less teeth higher top end, more teeth better acelleration. So if you go with 22 you will lose some torque but gain on your top end.

Re: sprocket change question

I feel like he already knows this. How much of a change though? Anyone done it?

Re: sprocket change question

Thats a completely arbitrary question. What, do you want a g-force readout?

Re: sprocket change question

Ben Van Zoest /

What is the torque nr. with the 28T?

Re: sprocket change question

I had Sean at Myrons' Mopeds swap out my sprocket for a 22, and he also removed a restrictor plate in the air intake on my 2008 Tomos ST. Everything else is stock. My top speed is 37mph.

Re: sprocket change question

Hey Adam, Shaun's the man. Looks like he set you up right. I bought an arrow and revival ts from him. He sets them up right in a stock like setup and they go 37 to 38 mph all day long. His monthly rides are awesome fun.

sprocket change question

07 tomos streetmate stock sprokets f 26 r 31 changed to f 27 r 24 only other mod is technigas exaust top speed is now 50+ with GPS takeoff did suffer but it is worth it with a 17 mile ride one way.

Re: sprocket change question

That sounds about right. I think you may have a free flow air filter. 27f and 24r seems like the magic gears for the road.

Re: sprocket change question

sorry forgot about removing restriction in air box

thanks for keeping me honest
