cold air

does cold air make you go faster?

Re: cold air

yes

air molecules are denser when at lower temperatures

Re: cold air

have you taken middle school science?

thats when i learned that kinda stuff. soo basic

Re: cold air

hahahahhhaaaa

Re: cold air

only if ur bike is not already too lean, if it is it could make ur bike slower, in that case u will be faster in fog.

Re: cold air

so, i might need to upjet ever so more slightly. I also dumped in some octane booster, maybe thats why...ha

Re: cold air

octain boost will make u slower unless ur compression has been modded to like 15:1 witch it most likely has not.

Re: cold air

cold air cold gas makes fast

Re: cold air

Anyone rig up a cold air intake for a mopeds carb?

Re: cold air

like an intercooler?

Re: cold air

2 strokes dont like forced air

altitude, and what to do

I am from a 200-600 above sea level area, and that is what I'm accustomed to. I'm now 5600 ft above sea level. Less oxygen I know. It seems like it has lost a little top speed, and isn't as peppy. Does that sound normal? What do people in high altitudes do to get their peds peppy? -tomos sprint, biturbo, high flow air filter and 56 jet. help a brutha out!

Re: altitude, and what to do

actually cold air and hot gas is what you want, higher gasoline temps promote better atomization of the fuel. most mopeds wont be helped by a 'cold air intake' because they are already getting pretty cold air. these improvements are usually only good for 3 hp on a 200 hp car or truck, they wont be noticeable on a 2 hp engine.

high altitude, jet leaner- less air means you need less fuel. do a chop and see whats going on.

Re: altitude, and what to do

A hot gas/air mixture is definitely not what you want, because that's pretty much the only thing cooling the piston.

Re: altitude, and what to do

hot gas, meaning, hot gasoline

smokey yunick did a bunch of experimentation back in the 70's and 80's with heating gasoline before the carb, fuel and power improvements were proven in some situations. Not something that you could really make work on a moped though.
