status on putting in my metrakit!

i just finished grinding the case open to fit the MASSIVE cylinder and piston. aside from the transfers, not only do you have to grind the case to fit the width of the cylinder skirt. you also have to grind a little more inwards so that the piston skirt doesnt hit the case at bdc. it wasnt too bad though. id say it added up to about 4 or 5 hours of grinding. maybe more but i did it over a span of two days. its not that bad really, done nicely with a dremel and carbide bit. my next step is to put the jug on, stick the engine in the bike. assemble transmission. then after that i have to figure out carburetor configuration. and fitting the pipe on the angled exhaust port (this part scares me). i cant wait to rip the streets and pass cars and carry passengers though

Re: status on putting in my metrakit!

dude i am so stoked for you. i also want to hear how this works out because i plan on winning the 80cc kit in the moped drag races this year!

cheers man!

dude dude DUDE... i cannot wait to see this beast in action. what pipe are you using?

Re: cheers man!

bullet. mounting it is gonna be the biggest pain in the butt. i have to cut and weld the header to fit. it has an exhaust port. harold if you get the 80cc you have to tell me how it compares to the polini. i got this 80cc with alot of risks but the polini i know is good for sure, i hope i dont run into any major problems. the sleeve fits snug in there and i hope it works. i dont think the cylinder will expand and cause it to be squeezed in the case would it? i really dont wanna grind anymore. ill just see how it works

Re: cheers man!

well when i say snug its not hard to put in

but theres little clearance

Re: status on putting in my metrakit!

haha, Harold .. thats funny better run a minarelli ..lol (joking), ed

Re: cheers man!

Its better for it to be snug a little bit tho, mopeds wasnt made with high tech stardards. Any pictures? of the port job.

Re: cheers man!

i cant really find the camera aghh. but then i only opened the hole maybe 3 mm thats actually alot but the thing is the holes is initially much larger than the stock cylinder sleeve. now its barely larger than the kit cylinder. i actually grinding a little too far in one area and theres a tiny hole and you can see a case screw. i dont think ill run into any problems if i fill it with jb weld. i just dont want any fresh fuel leaking into the flywheel

Re: cheers man!

i just got the case and tranny all together. two speeds are a pain! lol not really its not too bad. as long as you bag each part seperately its still a good engine. like all puchs are, it wont break down unless you give it a reason to. im gonna get this top end on which only takes 5 minutes to do anyways. then after putting the engine in the bike another day ill have to cut reweld pipe and then do carb. then replace brakes and im done!
