hey smity how much did that carb set you back?
hey smity how much did that carb set you back?
It's not mine, it's jeff Taylors, and I don't know how much he had to pay for this monster.

hey i saw the video. that thing sounds alot more tame compared to the polini puch video. i bet both are still faster than my ped though
The video is the Autisa kitted Sachs...this engine build is an Athena kitted Sachs...two different engines. I'm just beginning to build this Athena Sachs engine.

ohh ok
whoops
What do you think of the athena kit for puchs? Do those have metal reeds as well?
yeah and they break as well
about the cost of the carb...I think it was like $178.
I
or maybe the engines are Morini...something with an "m"
Zanella, they are copies of the Minarelli V1 engine,
thats where everyone gets the 86cc kits, you should go find Federico and see the drag races
Smitty, what kinds of dremel bits do you use?
I imagine you use different ones for the rough cutting, the fine cutting and finally the polishing. I saw some diamond tip bits today, are they any good?
Diamond bits are really good, and I use lots of different size and shaped ones. One of these days I'll have to lay out all of the piles of bits I have and use.
I use different dremel bit kits for grinding, sanding, polishing, etc. I also use tungsten carbide bits. These are relatively expensive, and very aggressive (meaning they cut off a lot, quickly!)
I also have several rotory tools ... as I can burn one up after 1/2 dozen engines, hehe ;^)

PS I also perform lots of intricately detailed port-work in some areas with an electric engraver. Also by Dremel.
They are called CICLO's .. I bet its nice down I would bring back a shit load of kits.. cylindero kit cost 20 us bucks..lol
well, they are in the fall here, but it is pretty warm. and yes, those zinella peds i
Are your supposed to wait until the sealant is cured to join the halves? My honda bond says to join the cases after letting it sit for only a minute.
I've had much better results by letting the Yamabond cure over-night, before assembly. Several reasons I do it this way. After the gasket maker is cured, it's a very nice rubber-like (not silicone). It's plyable, but stiff. Also, if you assemble right away (or before cured), then you take a chance of it oozing into the engine, with no way of getting it back out, and therefore it's likely to mix and mingle with the internal moving parts, and likely block oil passeges. Then you're ruining the engine with sticky goo all through-out the lower and top-end, as well as the transmission (where applicable).
Naw, I'd rather do it the way I've seen professional dirt-bike engine builders do.
The only draw-back is like today, when yesterday I was pressed for time, but wanted to get the gasket on, I didn't have the chance to spread the sealant as I normally do, and when I inspected it this morning, I was disappointed in it so bad I took it all off and started all over again, LOL!!! Which worked-out just as well, because in between then I added another enhancement to the crankcase...heheheha ;^)

100cc kits for vespa, huge port athenas for sachs... ain't for puchs and tomos anymore!!
Yea 100cc for the minarelli L1 too..
nice...looks like I'll be getting the engine back soon.
100c for manarelli L1?
Don't you mean 86cc, and V1? I've never heard of an L1.
No I don't mean the V1. Here is a picture of the L1.
Sorry for highjacking :)
I used loctite 515, check it out smitty. It doesn't start to harden until its cut off from air. I have used it to put together my brothers puch e-50, worked nice. "Loctite 515 is an anaerobic compound, specifically formulated for sealing flat flanges on machined surfaces. This product has high surface adhesion properties, which will assist in holding a seal in the housing or mating two surfaces together. High viscosity prevents migration of the product from the sealing surfaces during assembly and cure."
