Motor quits with BiTurbo

I have a 2004 Tomos A35 with 400 miles. I just installed a BiTurbo pipe. I was enjoying the extra power and speed going about 35 with a car close behind me when the engine just stopped dead. After my initial panic subsided, I pulled safely to the curb and I was able to restart and continue. A few minutes later while I was going a little over 30, the engine once again stopped dead. I slowed down to below 30 and made it home OK. Is this related to the BiTurbo? I did not change the carburator jet. Would installing a #56 be the solution?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Yep...you are burning up that engine every time you run it like that. Best order a bigger jet...AND A NEW SET OF RINGS.

Re: Motor quits with BiTurbo

yeah what you are experiencing is an extremely soft seize. if you keep that up your engine will be gone. it is probobaly already really bad.

you should NOT run it without rejetting, especially if you premix.

without the injector and not enough fuel there is no oil in your engine. it will die.

do not run it without rejetting.

Re: Motor quits with BiTurbo

Chances are that you will probably need to replace the piston, rings, and cylinder since the honeing marks are probably gone.

I'm getting a by turbo soon. Where can I buy these jets and how do I order them? Also isn't there a jet for the fuel and one for the oil?

Usually, you can order them with the pipe from the dealer. If he doesn't sell jets, he shouldn't sell pipes.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Actually, my dealer said that they never install a larger jet and they have never had a problem. I have a #55 on order.

I wouldn't be dealing there anymore. They know jack-shit if that is what they told you. Anything you do to the motor whether intake or exhaust etc. needs to be looked at jet wise. Plug chops will tell you, sure they love you to seize it up and then suck you dry for repairs. Scum bags.

Re: Motor quits with BiTurbo

I have had my motor do the same thing a few times in the morning when its cold. With no upgrades whatsoever. I upgraded to a biturbo and I think it happened once more, other than that it seems to be fine all the time, and plug is healthy every time i check it (which would be nearly every time i ride).

Re: Motor quits with BiTurbo

Do they actually drive them or just sell them. I would look for more advice before taking that advice.

Re: Motor quits with BiTurbo

mine did the same thing when i put my biturbo on my 1999 targa lx.. got a bigger jet and it ran like it should... i forget what size jet i put in it though
