Inspection of your points can tell you about your capacitor. If everything is right the wear is equal. If capacitance isn’t right, material from 1 point will collect in the other leaving a hill and a divot.
If capacitance is too high, material will transfer from the stationary to movable; too low and material will transfer from movable to stationary.
