FIRST RIDE!
After a couple of months of not working on my Moby, just had other stuff to do and it was too damn cold in the garage, I timed the engine, took care of any final details such as one last flush of the gas tank, installed the petcock and fuel line and fitted the side covers, installed a new speedo cable and checked all the fasteners one last time, it was finally time to see if she would fire up.
I put about a quart of 40/1 mix in the tank and climbed aboard to pump those pedals. It took a few efforts till I figured out about the decompression lever and when to let it go but yet still hold the choke on for a few seconds more and finally she sprang to life!
After all the restoration effort, there she was actually running :-) Well I jumped on and took a short cruise up the street maybe hitting a whopping 15 mph and just enjoying the feel of the first ride. Took several short rides yesterday going a little faster each time and then letting it cool off. Today I took a longer ride and had her up to 25mph for a short while. The darn thing just runs great! Seems like the loudest noise is the air intake through the SHA 15, the muffler is pretty quiet surprisingly.
So here are some beauty shots from today.
