Re: 1979 motobecane 50v

Check the tank for rust and or dried up fuel, next I see you are missing the stock carb which will need replaced or a Delorto SHA carb. You will need to check for spark. If all of that checks out, tires, brakes, chains and cables will have to be replaced. Gonna be somewhat expensive. Then you have all the misc. parts required to get it roadworthy. Not saying it's impossible by any means just takes time, mechanical ability and some cash. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Do you want it to run? It actually looks like a good project to get running

Re: 1979 motobecane 50v

^ I agree with Garelli Master✨

Re: 1979 motobecane 50v

Both of above, clean tank n running motor before piecing it back together unless you can give the motor an overhaul.

IF the tank is clean/good and the engine isn't seized I bet if they oil the cables/chains, repack the wheel bearing, add a carb (stock carb would be brownie points) clean/adjust points, clean decompression valve and MAYBE change the rings I bet it'll run if it fires. You wanna bet? That thing is actually clean if you really look at it and I bet it won't take much to get it to run. Oh and new fuel line and filter of course.

Probably not much because there is never hardly much wrong with them if the tank isn't rotted. But I'm listening.

Re: 1979 motobecane 50v

cleaned the carb, and plugged in all the wires. I did end up replacing the carb with something that is overkill.

aka a plug and play
