When we try to reassemble the two transmission case halves when you tighten the bolts down it locks up. If you back out the screws 1/2 turn it works fine. We have parts diagrams and are not missing any washers or anything. We have tension on the kick starter mechanisms and it looks perfect according to the diagrams. Any help GREATLY appreciated!!!
Try spinning the flywheel while you’re putting the cover on to get everything in better alignment.

Usually that’s a spacing issue caused by missing washer, gasket or other spacer type object.
1980 NC 50 side cover install.
I am now well above 25 attempts to put the left side cover on.
Followed direction regarding parts placement, starter spring lining up with mark on gear. Each time it goes on fine.
All parts are in place including wave washer.
If I release with starter lever on top of case if will not rewind.
If I add a couple of clicks with the starter lever, same problem.
If I add several clicks with stater arm again same problem.
I have done this process over and over.
Help me please! I live in the Jacksonville, FL area and would appreciate any help either
