1958 sears Allstate Puch moped rear brake. Broken.

Allan McClendon /

I just purchased a 1958 Puch ms. 50 moped that i am having. A problem removing the crankcase cover. It is in a bind trying to remove. The cable was broken and frayed and the bike was in a bind trying to turnover. Also the dipstick is bent and wont come out. I don’t want to do anymore damage to it than. Has already been done. Any ideas on this one. Would be appreciated. Thanks,Allan

If the cable is frayed, just cut it, your gonna have to replace anyways. Also, take some picts as most of us are not familiar w/ your particular model.

I picked up a shifty tomos but i really think its an allstate as well. Fan cooled and looks like a puch allstate.

Thanks.I finally got the crankcase off. The internal brake arm was bent and the dip stick is twisted. Up. I have no idea how this much damage was done due. To the cable breaking inside the case. Anyway i found a used brake lever and dipstick on eBay and got them ordered. Also ordered a few parts from motor west for this bike. It was a one owner bike that has been in a shed for about 60 years. This is the first one i have seen that wasn’t molested and missing a bunch of parts. Anyway thanks. For the reply.
