With the CDI wired up, remove the one wire going to the HT external ignition coil's positive connection. Remove the spark plug. Set a multi meter to AC VOLTS, 200 scale. Hook red lead to HT coils lead and black to a good frame ground. Crank the engine over and you should see ac volts.
