Head gasket

Which side goes up and which goes down for head gasket

Re: Head gasket

Depends on the gasket .

Post a pic of both sides .

Re: Head gasket

In case you didn't know , the manual doesn't seem to address head gasket orientation .

Normally , with a composite gasket , the widest metal goes up or to the head .

But your gasket seems to be pretty equal either side .

The only difference I see is one side seems flat , while the other seems to have a single circular 'crimp' or indent .

If it were mine , I'd put the indented side toward the head ( higher temperature ) .

I can only go by past experience , which may be wrong in this instance .

Hopefully someone will confirm or straighten me out .

Re: Head gasket

I’d say something is better than nothing and toss it on

Re: Head gasket

doesn't matter, this way that way none at all.

Re: Head gasket

Do I have to prep anything before putting it on?

Re: Head gasket

just torque evenly to 10 ft lbs, what moped is it. tomos a3? run it and recheck torque when cool to touch.

Re: Head gasket

2005 tomos lx I think it’s a35

Re: Head gasket

I don’t have to torque wrench so I can’t titen them evenly

Re: Head gasket

just torque it to 10 ft lbs evenly, if it blows out for some reason your in luck because a35's didn't come with head gaskets. So if it does just surface your cylinder and head on some fine sandpaper on a flat surface and bolt together again.

Re: Head gasket
