Peugeot 103 no power from idle to mid revs! :-( Any ideas?

Hallo Mopedarmy members,

my first post on the forum so please excuse my English :-)

We bought a PEUGEOT 103 Vogue (AV10 25mph) last year and we are improving the moped since then.

We changed the crank to fit an AIRSAL Sport 65cc kit and updated the carb to a SHA 15 clone. The factory cdi is still in place.

The 103 start and idles fine, but it takes ages to reach mid speeds. We get good acceleration from mid revs to vmax with no problems. It is impossible to start uphill (but the clutch seems not the problem). So no power during low revs.

Any ideas ideas we haven´t thought about yet?

Could the cdi be the problem? Timing too early BTDC in low revs?

THX.

You did tune the carb corrrect? Or has it not run since the mods? If so I suggest you buy a range of jets and begin tuning your carb. Try a higher jet first, sounds like bogging.

Also, The AV10 is a motobecane engine. Not peugeot. Unless you did an engine swap I doubt that's what you have.

We need pictures!lol

Disregard the first part, I somehow missed a paragraph.

I still think it may be lean tho.

Beautiful scooter,

I just had a similar issue with my tomos, felt like a cdi problem, spark was fine.

Weathers been alot nicer lately, I upjetted one size as it didnt have much low end/ middle power but it was fine once you got going.

One or two jet sizes up might do it for you.

Im gonna guess this is maybe your issue since I also have a 15 SHA on my tomos

Check the ignition timing

Re: Peugeot 103 no power from idle to mid revs! :-( Any ideas?

and did you change the intake also? if it's stock then you have a restriction...

Re: Peugeot 103 no power from idle to mid revs! :-( Any ideas?

Many thanks for your advice so far.

I will check the timing in the next few day when I get myself a timing light.

It´s a 1999 PEUGEOT 103 II Vogue we built last year for a friends 40. birthday. That´s why it´s called APOLLO 40 :-) We chose the Vogue because of its standard 12V CDI system and the very low mileage.

I keep you updated..

What size of jet do you have in the SHA?
