I have a Hobbit motor on a test stand and it was running ok. Took the motor in my truck to a friends house to set the timing and upon return I could not get it running. It would only run on ether. I checked the carb bowl (removed the drain plug} and there was no gas. There is gas flowing out the gas line when it is disconnected so I know it is getting gas. Anyone have a suggestion what I must have done to screw it up.

Sounds like the choke is stuck ..tap.on the float bowl
If it’s the stock carb, the bowl will screw on 2 ways, but only one is right. You want to put the bowl back on with the drain tube at the bottom facing the choke side... this could be your issue. Good luck

Glad you're getting him pointed to the float ..lol ..i.just.noticed the booboo i made saying choke instead of float..brain fart ..maybe you.got him lined out
if u have time, i think the float bowl is 4 screws, go slow and ccw with them be careful not to misplace the screws. Its surprising what u may find, i found grey grease crap yesterday, blood colored gas last week and the best was the moths.
Everyone: Thank you all for the suggestions. I took the carb off, removed the bowl and inspected the needle valve seat. It was clogged. Tried to clean it with carb cleaner to no avail. Hooked up the air compressor and pumped 50 pounds of air through the gas inlet and discharged a bunch of crap in the seat area. Put the carb back and now it runs. Still runs crappy but it runs. That clog should prompt you to insure that every passage , jets and air passages are clear .
