A35 front sprocket seal nut

Went to inspect brake shoes on the rear of tomos a35 and the brakes were wet and brake shoes with trans fluid. So trans is leaking passed year along the chain and getting through the spacer and sprocket crevice into back brakes. Had to been 2 teaspoons of transfluid in the drum itself. Time to put a new seal washer and nut on the sprocket. Might add a bit of grey motoseal as seen on a video on YouTube. Guy said even after a rally hasnt leaked. But have to let it set up about 24 hours after motoseal and new sealed nut. A35s trans leaks i tell ya! Smh!

It shouldn't have pressure to push out the fluid. You should check your Crank seal.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

Anything over 9 ounces of fluid and it leaks. if i keep 9 ounces of trans fluid in it or less no matter how hard i run it she won't leak a bit. So do you think it is the crank seal behind the front sprocket??

1 it takes 7 oz to 4 oz.

Its measure in the manual is in cc not ml.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

Any motor that has a transmission will have an "output" shaft from that transmission upon which the drive sprocket is attached. You are looking for an output shaft seal. The nut simply bolts the drive sprocket to the output shaft. Remove seal and look for three sets of numbers that refer to the dimensions of the seal. I have had great luck taking old seals to bearing shops for replacement. Nationwide bearing shops include Applied Industrial Technologies, Kaman Industrial Technologies, Motion pro, etc. (edited)

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

Also, very important to figure out why seal failed to begin with. If its something other than age or high milage then chances are corrective measures will be in order to prevent premature failure of the replacement.

Some had a defective bushing. But it's not hi pressure if you overfill it will leak.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

What is the exact amount of fluid that goes into the 2004 tomos sprint step thru a35 ?? 7oz ? 8oz? Or 9 oz? Thanks slew i don't have anything to measure ccs.

Its like 6.5 oz.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

I put 8ozs in and road it a few miles and it sounds bad when it shifts to 2nd taking off it whines so i put the 9 ozs back in. It needs work probably crank seal and gear or etc.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

Wiki online its Sayin everywhere ive looked 300ml of trans fluid. Im bein truthful. Manual says 220cc3 whatever that means. And old man that's 70 yrs old owns moped business told me level method. When i do the level method when it stops dripping at 9 ozs so im really confused now. Lol but 2 days ago i put on new seal washer and nut from treats with motoseal so that should help as well.

Also calls for valvoline suffix a

Mercedes passenger manual shift. Fluid

Transfer case cvt. Oil.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

Well hell i see bottles of cvt oil at my local autozone i might give that a try. Also forgot to tell you my tomos has over 19 thousand actual miles on it. I had the original odometer that i took off. And i put a nicer one on it and kept track of miledge. 20 thousand miles is alot for original 2004 trans you agree?

Shoe material for the clutches.

That many miles you need new pads.

To swell what you got left. Marvel mystery oil 4 parts to 1 part synthetic c astrol atf.

Run it a week drain. Use whatever. But never use Duralube glaze them instantly.

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

I just had new shoes put on last year. Bout 1500 miles ago. I will be getting new ones again this summer

Re: A35 front sprocket seal nut

The new washer and seal nut i put on this week is doing well. I guess using motoseal grey sealant on the seal nut threads and etc helped. I rode it 20 miles today wide open 35to40 mph and didn't find a drop of fluid after riding. Im learning to do a decent job working on it finally.
