Couple of speedbumps FA50

Dion Pedler /

Hi guys, I’ve finally got my little Suzuki FA50 legally back on the road, but I’ve encounted a couple issues. Being the following

1: the battery doesn’t seem to be charging, meaning no brake light/indicators.

2: after running fine for about 20 mins or so I will loose all power and the back wheel locks up and the thing dies. It then starts straight back up and goes again.

I’m a little lost. Re the battery issue I tested for voltage at the cables that connect to the battery, and when running I’m getting about 5 volts, which I thought would be enough to charge it up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers guys.

It’s a brand new battery and yes I’m worried about that and the seizing, but thanks for your knowledgeable response, very helpful champ!!

Sounds like you're soft seizing. Is this a stock bike or do you have any performance parts on it? You should check for air leaks while the bike is idling on the stand. Spray all matting surfaces around the carb, intake, exhaust, cylinder and cylinder head with starter fluid or brake cleaner. If the bike starts to rev or the engine cuts out then you have an air leak.

This is an oil injection motor. Most of these types have a procedure of using premix whilst checking/testing the oil pump under running conditions. Get the service manual and check that the oil pump is working correctly

And , insure that there are no kinks in the oil feed line .
