77 Newport Kickstand Pedal Clearance Issue

I recently picked up a 77 Puch Newport that I had been told was sitting in a garage since the 80's. A new petcock and some carb cleaning has it running pretty good, but the right side pedal (bike chain side) is making contact with the kick stand while it is folded up.

Before I take an angle grinder and hack off the interferring material on the leg of the stand, I figured I should inquire if there is an adjustment of some sort that I am overlooking?

There is some damage to the cover that holds the kickstand pivot, one of the corners near a bolt hole got wacked off. One of the stops is also cracked and loose, but not in immeadiate danger of falling off (I can grab some pics if it would be helpful).

The right pedal arm does not appear to be significantly bent, so I don't think that is the cause. I don't see any bolts/pins in that side pedal crank, so I'm hesitant to try bending it. There is what appears to be a grease fitting where the shaft meets the pedal crank, is it one piece?

Its interfering about 1/8-1/4", and I can force the stand in slightly enough to prevent contact, but thats mainly just from the slop in the pivot point, it won't stay there.

The only other solution I can think of is to remove both stops and slide both over by the 1/4" and weld them back up to make the adjustment.

Any thoughts or tips, seems like some is not aligned how it is supposed to. Everything appears to be stock, so I'm fairly confidient it isn't a wrong part number or something obvious.
