02 Honda Met 50 loses power instantly when key is tuned

Hello I am brand new to this forum and this is my first post. I recently found two scooters that were in like new physical condition but didn’t run for a couple hundred dollars. One just needed a battery and carb clean and it is going but the second one needed a bit more.

So I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel lines and filter, cleaned the carb and replaced the battery. When I turn the key the scooter lights up for about a second and then there is an audible click and then the scoot loses power.

My buddy said it sounds like a bad solenoid but my local parts dealer had to order one so I thought I would post to see if anyone else recognizes the issue.

Thanks so much!

Ok so pretty dumb but after I posted my question I sat down and tried to walk back through everything I had done to the bike and I ended up discovering I forgot to plug the fuel pump in after I replaced it.

Dumb but the good news is both bikes are running!

Almost! Yes 02 Honda Metropolitan and an 02 Yamaha Vino, both in really great shape. This is the first time I have ever tried this and it was awesome.

If you think those are fun, wait til you discover mopeds!

Neat little bikes tho. Good deal too

Those scooters are awesome! I just picked up a 1965 C100 Cub, probably wasn’t a great deal but it runs perfect and everything works, getting the cosmetic issues fixed now
