Installing a Metrakit 65cc on a ZA50. Everything has went well and when running piston to tdc all looks good. When running to bdc the piston does not quite clear the exhaust port. Obviously can shim cylinder but any experience on how far to shim/spacer? Don't want to lose too much compression but also do not want to burn piston or rings in path of exhaust. Picture is through exhaust port at bdc. Thanks.
Yeah you need a base Space about 3 mm The Metra kit usually came with the metal spacer that needed a base gasket on each side but you must not of got it
Make the gasket out of a stop sign. No gasket either side. Just yamabond. Then deck the cylinder to get squish back.

Just score it with a utility knife . Bend at the score and it'll come apart cleanly .
There are scissors that will make nice clean cuts as well .
Nah the bore is with a hole saw. Exterior with a jig saw fine tooth.
Transfers with dremel.
It’s like a 1/16” thick
