Junk in fuel filter

Looking at my fuel filter today I discovered some deposits of a hard crystal like orange substance. It doesn’t appear to be rust. Does anyone know what that might be?

Old nasty gas gel. pull your tank and wash it out.

Richard Eberline /

really, it came from your fuel and fuel tank. its in your carbs bowl and engine bearings.

Re: Junk in fuel filter

Exactly why I always recommend using a paper in line fuel filter .

The screen and 'stone' type filters get some of the big stuff , but , the little stuff passes and settles right were you don't want it .

Re: Junk in fuel filter

Yep run the saran filter on the inlet of the petcock and put a paper or bronze one downstream is best practice.
