Chinese moped not charging battery

I have a SSR Lazer 5 that has your typical Chinese wiring with AC headlight and taillights. I installed leds on the taillights and of course they wouldn’t work on ac. So I thought I could just run it all off the battery instead of the ac from the rectifier. The battery went dead. What are my options on this is it too much for it to handle and I need a rectifier on yellow wire or is there another way

Re: Chinese moped not charging battery

Um take the led off and use standard bulbs. Do that or ask someone on planet minis or some thing. Most people on this site don’t mess with the lazer.

Re: Chinese moped not charging battery

you could test your AC output, charging amps and compare to LED draw...

also depending on how you wired it you maybe are having a steady drain even while it's off.

it should work fine t run those off the battery, I would suspect you have a wiring issue, but it could be some piece of the charging system instead.

I figured it out. The charging system only trickle charges the battery it won’t run the lights. The lights run off the stator when the engine is running. I’ll have to covert the AC to DC with a rectifier and cap like everyone says on YouTube. I just couldn’t figure out why no one took the easy way. You live and learn
