Dismantling ‘77 Sparta Foxi Exhaust

I am trying to do a thorough cleaning of this exhaust pipe but it’s proving to be tricky to take apart. These pieces seem to be REALLY fused together. Is it even possible to separate these two pieces?

Wesley Ambrosini /

Pressure washer into the seam?

Re: Dismantling ‘77 Sparta Foxi Exhaust

Good idea, I will give it a try.

Re: Dismantling ‘77 Sparta Foxi Exhaust

The ideal time to separate the two would of been when the head pipe was still bolted to the motor.

Re: Dismantling ‘77 Sparta Foxi Exhaust

Do you mean that the pipe can be leveraged when it is attached to the engine or maybe heat is the factor that will separate these two pipes?

Re: Dismantling ‘77 Sparta Foxi Exhaust

just for leverage. if you can get penetrant in there, combined with heat, and twist before you pull you should be able to break em free

Got it, thanks for that.

^^^ if you can twist the muffler it will eventually come off.

Yeah, this thing won’t budge. I am starting to think that it is epoxied in there.
