qt50 rear end noise

I just acquired a qt50 got it running and had a bad noise in the rear end, I tore it apart and cannot see anything physically wrong with the gears but the bearing on the drive gear (in the attachment below is bad) im not sure if this if going to take care of all the noise though, seems like where the gears mesh is loud, are these gearsets known to wear out/be noisy?

thanks

Re: qt50 rear end noise

I think ive got it figured out, anyone have a rear end assembly for sale?

Re: qt50 rear end noise

Johnny, don't leave us hanging. What do you think you've figured out? And, yes, bad bearings can be noisy.

Re: qt50 rear end noise

there should be 2 bearings and a spacer on the pinion gear/shaft mine only had 1 bearing and the spacer so the gear would move back and fourth 1/2'' I don't know who removed it or why it was removed

I just replaced those bearings on my QT50. I used these.

You will need to press on the one the fits close to the teeth. I used a vise and a deep socket. I also used some washers as the deep socket wasn't deep enough. I also put something in front of the pinion to keep it safe from the vise jaws.

I also replaced the wheel bearings. I used these.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Re: qt50 rear end noise

Can you tell me the size of the bearings for the front wheel?

Be more specific please

Re: qt50 rear end noise

If you do buy a new rear end, look into one off a Yamaha PW50. It has a taller gear ratio and will give you a higher top speed.
