So I have cleaned my carb 5 times. I have replaced the float and needle. It was in good shape to begin with. My bike runs after I clean it but if i let it sit ten minutes it wont start, The carb is flooded with gas. If i remove it and let it dry out put it back on the bike it runs again. I have cleaned the carb every which way. What am i missing?
Sounds like MAYBE the seat needs to be polished up a little better. Just an over the interweb guess. I do know that if these carbs aren't THROUGHLY clean they will cause you trouble. Float level isn't adjustable so that rules that out. You bought a new needle so that rules that out. So if it is flooded after sitting, then fuel must be getting past the needle and seat. When they work right they are a pretty good little carb.
I polished the seat with a q tip and some wd40 no luck same problem.
You need to polish the seat , not lube it .
Use Brasso or the like and polish until it shines bright .
And , inspect that new needle for any impurities / imperfections .

I polished the hell out of the seat with some Brasso. I cleaned the carb again. Was working put the carb flooded again. Any help would be appreciated.
Maybe the float is sticking open .
Check your fuel line, damage to the line could cause leaks. Check the fuel line connections. Check your drain screw. If it's out or have missing/damage an o-ring, your bowl will drain. Check your float needle, if it's damaged or misshapen even slightly, almost unnoticeable, it will leak.

I am pretty sure the float is sticking open. I have two float needles they both look good. Same problem.

Where did the float needles come from? Are they rubber tipped?
I got the float needles from amazon. They are rubber tipped yes. Is there a way of cleaning them?

I know from personal experience that not all rubber tipped float needles are created equal. I have had problems with aftermarket float needles not working correctly. In fact on more than one occasion ive had to resort to o.e.m. needles to get carbs to function correctly. This has all been on different jap motorcycles ive worked on over the years. Its like the rubber used on aftermarket needles is inferior and swells or deforms (from fuel exposure) thus causing leaks and or carb flooding with gasoline. This was happening with brand new aftermarket needles right out of the package upon installation. I would bench test before installing a rack of four carbs back onto motor. Most sets of carbs were a pain in the ass to install and remove so bench testing saved a lot of time and headaches.
If you can't find the original Honda needle then try another aftermarket source. (edited)

I honestly can't remember if I replaced the needle in my 79. If I did it came from treatland
