I have an old 50v witb 6 star mag wheels. the rear brake pads fell apart.
I cant find on treats what to buy..
everything they have says it is for spoke wheels.
I have 18x80 new pads on hand (I have a maxi also).
can I buy the appropriate pads.. or we see that we may be able to possibly modify the 18x80s to work.. is this what some people do and is it successfull? any writeups?

What size brakes do they have to begin with?

Are they Leleu? Grimeca? Motobecane? MBK (original or honeycomb)?
Horseshoe or coil spring?
Motobecane.. I am guessing original since the bike had everything original when I bought it (odometer reads 324 miles)
looks like 65x20?
I attached comparison of the old ones and the 18x80 (puch) shoes we have on hand... I dont mind ordering the exact ones.. just cant figure out what to order.. and hoping to have the bike ready for next weekend.

That looks right and I remeasured. yes 80x20....
that is where I should order it from? no one domestically sells them I assume?
I see treats sells 80x20 but who knows if they will fit? doesnt mention motobecanes, says suzukis.

Did you even try the shoes you have ? They are only 2mm narrower , right ?
We could make them work if we ground the end on the one side. It wouldnt be just a drop in.

By the looks of your comparison pics above , I can see differences . But I think that with minor adjustment they would work nicely .
Reline the kaput shoes - little bit of friction material and some long cure epoxy...

So.... this is what we ended up doing...
Just wanted to report back with an update.
We ended up using these puch shoes with modification listed below.

We ground about 1/16" off of the top of the pin end with a cutting wheel - and about 0.5mm from the end that goes against the pin.
We used the springs that came with the shoes.
That worked and we drove the bike around all weekend in the Pittsburgh rally down some very very steep hills.
The suzuki shoes didnt work - they may work with some fiddling around with also possibly.
