I am new to mopeds and repairs. Gas tank leaks, pin hole or cracks near the tank/seatpost junction. Tried to repair with "seal all" product. Didnt work. Repair tutorial says just get a new frame. That would be a huge undertaking for me. Just wondering if there are any other things to try first. Other product? Or external gas tank perhaps...

He could also have a new section welded in . The frame 'looks' pretty good , but for the rust area .
That frame is weakened and compromised. I would replace the frame. Not a big deal to do a frame swap.

So , you think the frame is beyond repair and possibly reinforcement ?
There is really no way to know just from a picture. I suppose you could clean the tank real well inside and use a borescope to see the extent of the damage down in the bottom. If it's just a small area of pitting with small pin holes it could potentially be brazed up.

^ This,unless you want to do a lot of welding. That is a critical point in the frame, forget the gas tank.
just add a tank on the back rack n call it good.
Monocoque bikes have issues when the base of the fuel tank has a hole, it can weaken the frame. DO NOT TRY TO JUST EPOXY IT. The bike may fold like a taco on you, likely while doing 50km/h...
Best suggestion is to poke really severely at the rust to determine how bad it is, it likely need welding a patch on it. Bet to do that anyhow, and get yourself a upper stress bar to brace the frame. Does not have to be a huge bar, just a goodly strong one. You will lose the helmet holder (that no one ever uses) when you add the bar between the seat post tube and the fork tube.

I would do this first^^
Assess and go from there.
When it comes to rust, theres always more than meets the eye. If its very bad, replace it and dont risk your life taking the easy way out.
Mmmm, folded taco!! I mean get a new frame, not worth eating the asphalt. Get the right frame and its all bolt on stuff
Finally got it cleaned up, I was going to try jb weld gas tank repair. Quite a bit of rust came out of the tank. I think most of the loose rust is out, but I am wondering if that needs more attention before I try the JB weld. (edited)

I can’t believe your seriously going the jb weld route. Replace the frame, too bad though it looks like a clean frame.
Take it to a good welder and have a decent patch welded on .
Man... that thing is toast. A shame indeed, it’s so clean otherwise. I feel like one good bump could split that thing. If this were my bike I wouldn’t take the chance. Plus from what i’ve seen that’s the weakest part of the frame.

Swap frame for sure, not worth eating pavement, and the crud constantly clogging your jet. A shame, nice paint otherwise.
take it to a welder or learn how to braze, epoxy aint gonna cut it. waste of dough/time.
Well, its already trashed so... Maybe try JB. If that doesn't work then consider taking it to a welder.
