Where in earth is the idle screw?!

Mike Cummings /

Finally got this little guy up and running and it actually hauls ass! But stalls out when not throttling, so I should adjust the idle screw right? But this is totally different than my VA Standard carb and I can not figure out where it is.

Any help?!

Isn’t that the air intake screw for the slide? My other carb has a screw they is on a diagonal that adjusts the idle.

That being said, should this screw circles be all the way in to start with and then loosen to adjust the idle or vice versa?

Re: Where in earth is the idle screw?!

wow, just turn the screw. theres only one.

Re: Where in earth is the idle screw?!

Run the bike until it reaches operating temp and then turn the screw as needed for a nice idle. It's an idle speed screw, all it does is props up the slide. There is no idle mixture screw, or any other adjustment on this model carburetor.

I do it the same way. But ive had a couple that stumbled or died when cold so I bumped up the idle to cure and lived with a slightly faster (within reason) warm idle. In other words a happy medium. Start with warm idle first and go from there.
