google search was useless, most everything was about serpentine belts, not v belts, or it said old age causes it. but my oldest stock hobbit belts are quiet, the newer aftermarket ones (fast arrow and this one ) are the noisy ones?

Try some belt dressing . Available at any auto parts store or Walmart .
