Top end rattle

I fitted an airsal 70cc cylinder and piston to my puch and it rattles like a bunch of skeletons having an orgy in a biscuit tin, the motor was fine with the stock setup so i'm sure its related to the kit, all i know is that the piston isnt hitting the head, any ideas anyone?

Thanks,

dip you gap the rings before installing?

Re: Top end rattle

No, i have been trying to find information on this but with no success, i wondered if it was the cause.

Re: Top end rattle

If you have no manufacture spec for the rings this is how I gap:

0,004 per 1,00 of bore street

OR

0,006 per 1,00 for racing

OR

0,008 per 1,00 for vintage motors.

(Does not matter if it is measures in inch or mm because it works same mathematically.)

Someone gonna ask my reasons to why there is a difference for road, race and vintage:

Racing are usually thinner rings but have to take more heat so you gap the rings a little wider.

Vintage rings are huge so they need more room for expansion so again gap those huge 3mm babies a bit more.

Re: Top end rattle

Thanks for the help guys i'll get it done.

Re: Top end rattle

AND....Airsal kits are just noisy kits so don't be totally worried if it is still loud after you gap the ring....try some rubber fin dampeners...

Re: Top end rattle

Translation 0.18 mm

Re: Top end rattle

Def gap the ring....don't be surprised if the ringing persists tho....those are noisy, not as bad as a kstar tho.
