Re: Can't get Tomos chain to stop popping!

Please read the posts... not only did I change the

sprockets but both wheels. That sprocket came on that wheel, everything was tight and it looked good, so no reason to take it off.

Doesn't look good to me, Dan. Not enough clearance. Also, the spacer nut isn't factory is it?

Re: Can't get Tomos chain to stop popping!

This all makes way more sense than something inherently wrong with the chain.

Dude... read all the

posts I made and chill out lol.

... I changed the whole wheel, including the sprocket along with the whole package... different wheel and sprocket than what was on there before, never had to

take the sprocket off, but clearly it is not missing the spacer.

Marc and Don- i’m gonna take it for a spin tomorrow and see how it is. Lots of factors taken out of the equation. I tapped in the lock washer further tonight and installed the chain after soaking it in bar and chain oil, wiping it, and giving it a coat with wax based Motorcycle chain lubricant.

I’ll give an update tomorrow, just ordered treats a few days ago, don’t wanna have to again atleast for a little bit if I don’t have to haha

Thanks again for your help everyone

Don- The rear sprocket spacer IS in fact factory for the Tomos A3 5 star mags. found a diagram on Moped Junkyard. I checked behind the sprocket and found the chain clearance on the hub acceptable.

Good stuff lol, ill take it for a spin and check back tomorrow.

Re: Can't get Tomos chain to stop popping!

Well, okay, I just like more clearance on my hubs.

Good news everyone!! took it out for an hour ride all around the valleys and mountains in my area, perfect 4th of july weather!

Dupont Chain Wax and a long soak in bar and chain oil did the trick. Hopefully this thread is helpful to someone in the future.

Thanks for all the help and advice you all.

Re: Can't get Tomos chain to stop popping!

Hope you got er fixed for good! I've never had to soak a pre-lubed chain, so this is new for me.

Re: Can't get Tomos chain to stop popping!
