bypassing general ignition switch

Hi all,

New to this forum, just got my first project moped a 1985 general.

From what I can tell the keyed ignition switch is broken. If I were to cut this out, could I bypass it by simply connecting the two wires that run into it, or is there more complexity to it?

This is the lock: https://www.lucky2strokes.com/General-Lazer-Moped-Fork-Lock-p/general-fork-lock-x26.htm

Blake Totally a real doctor /

I have new old stock ones with the wires attached if you just want to replace it.

From memory, you should just be able remove the lock and connect the wires. I believe pulling the key breaks the ground circuit. Or it's the opposite but its only 2 wires so simple to test. It's been a little bit since I've worked on a General. (edited)

Hi Blakea

Do you happen to still have some new old stock fork locks for general 5/Lazer?
