Morini M01- starter won't engage

I finally got my Intramotor Scout running and drove it for about 5 minutes yesterday. When I stopped then tried to restart it I discovered that all of a sudden the starter lever isn't engaging the motor and it won't start, it just feel like it's slipping internally. No matter what I did, I couldn't get the motor to turn over when I pedaled and pulled the lever (cable is tight). I'm currently draining the oil in anticipation of removing the clutch cover and seeing what is wrong. Any advice on what to look for would be appreciated.

Are you sure your cable is pulling arm fully? Take a pair of locking pliers and twist the arm GENTLY to a stop. Is that where your cable is pulling it to?

Re: Morini M01- starter won't engage

Yeah the cable is definitely doing it’s job, so I’m going to pull the case off and see what’s wrong. I just don’t really know what to look for.

You should do a compression test too. When I blew a head gasket, my starter had almost no resistance.

The starter plate is very similar to a minarelli v1. Typically the ball bearing wears through and sometimes welds itself to the cam.
