2 part question I guess 3 actually.

Hi everyone

Looking for some advice about my 2001 Tomos Sprint.

When I start her up she stalls out even with choke on unless I give her gas and feather it a bit 30 seconds or so but then she's normally fine to ride. Any thoughts ideas? I just got her about a 2 months ago and I cleaned the carb and put a new air filter on. I'm running high test and a 50/1 ratio.

Other part is my lights went out I think it has something to do with the rear light because the mount is seems loose with the rubber mount there but not sure.

Oh

Last question does the speedo normally have a light? It's impossible to see how fast I'm going at night just judge it off how fast I feel I'm going haha

Probably Fred /

New air filter and you didn’t change the jetting that’s a no no

I have a new air filter. Why should I change the jet? I just cleaned it

Re: 2 part question I guess 3 actually.

New STOCK air filter? Everything is stock? Then you're okay with jetting. But run 40:1 and your crank bearings, rod bearings will love you for it. Good quality oil, NOT weed trimmer oil.

Yes, speedo has a light bulb.

I have a biturbo muffler it came with the bike I imagine the previous owner jetted it. I have stock air filter though. I'll up some oil ratio thanks.

Any ideas why it would stall and putter after start up?

Usually when you remove the air filter or add one you gotta rejet. Find what works for your bike to get it to purr the way it's supposed to.

I just replaced the basic non existent one with stock one. She rides pretty well just struggles until warm

Yes stock filter. I'll look into reassemble the gauge cluster unless your have any tips

Re: 2 part question I guess 3 actually.

Take the carb bowl off and read what size jet. If it's a stock piston, not kitted, I'd use a #56 jet in the Dellorto if it's an SHA.

Always put a new spark plug in, properly gapped, when engine acts up.

I think the only after market thing is my exhaust. Biturbo what's Sha? I did put a new plug in when I got her.

Re: 2 part question I guess 3 actually.

SHA is the common Dellorto carb. Takes a lot of jet sizes so you can fool with it. Try the #56 main jet.
