Magnum MKII LTD - Starting Issues

Garrett Bernhagen /

I have a Magnum MKII LTD that has been running well for a few months now; yesterday when I started the bike it was idling a little faster then I feel it had in the past. Not to mention, when I turned the throttle it died. Went to check the plug and it was quite blackened with an oily deposit on it so I switched out the plug with a fresh one and now it won't start at all. I haven't looked into it too much, since it was late in the evening yesterday, but having some points to go off too would be great. I will be checking the fuel line today to see if it's flowing properly; the oil reservoir was visibly at a level that was marked as adequate. I have not checked if it is sparking or not anymore. What are parts on the bike that might be causing this issue if they have failed?

Re: Magnum MKII LTD - Starting Issues

I really want to pressure you to get rid of the oil injection....

Had a similar issue with mine once, tighten every connection between the engine and carb....nuts came loose on mine..

Re: Magnum MKII LTD - Starting Issues

Check for spark before you start worrying about what else it could be.

So I should just go with premixing the gas? And yes, planning on checking the spark. I will get back when I have had the opportunity. Seems like a logical first thing to check, haha.

Probably Fred /

Check fuel flow or for a blocked screen filter in banjo fitting in the carb

Thanks everyone for the input; I checked spark and nearly electrocuted myself, so it works. Checked the banjo fitting and fuel wasn't coming out at all. Ended up locating along the line quite the snag in the hose that was blocking fuel flow; have no clue how that happened but obviously it was an easy fix.
