Recently I was driving my tomos LX when the throttle cable frayed and disconnected from the throttle. I tried to fix it but the cable has become very frayed and it appears that I may have to replace it.
Has anyone ever come across this problem on their tomos?

i always pre-route a 2nd cable next to everything & i trap a extra master link & 1/2 link on the top of the brake cable near the mirror mount area in plain sight.
and you can fix it all on the road side in minutes.
a handlebar clamped flashlight holder or stylus w/a light in it would be great in low light conditions.
tool bags are not a bad idea.
and a chain breaker
Running double cables is not a real answer to this question and is completely unneeded if you just recable your bike and maintain those cables.
Just replace the throttle cable with a new one, super straight forward.
don't forget to get some cable lube. made that mistake and had a sticky throttle. they also make these things that make it easier to lube cables without making a huge mess. got one of those too and it is awesome. just a little lube, don't use too much.

I don't know why he says 'not too much lube' .
I always use enough to lube the whole cable , end to end . I like to see it run out the other end .
If you ever lube a Honda OEM cable , be sure to use a graphite based lube , as they have a plastic inner lining that can be destroyed using petroleum based lubes .
P D: that is exactly the tool i was talking about. when i said not to overdo it on the lube (i don't think you really can overdo it on lube usually) i was referring more to the fact that you don't have to use a ton to get the whole cable. i've used that tool and sprayed a few spritzes in the hole and was able to run the whole cable through and get it nice and slick. no need to go overboard.
