Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Grabbed a carb off eBay for it. Said 14mm and I’m not sure if the carb is bigger or my intake is smaller but the carb is just a tad bit big. I don’t think it’s a 12mm. Is there anything I could use to make up for the space????

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

How much is a tad ?

Measure stuff .

Use what ever to take up the difference , as long as it seals decent .

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Maybe 1mm. I used some electrical tape and the carb stays there but it turns by hand easily. What happening is the bike starts and runs fine but when you give throttle it’s bogging out like it’s losing pressure or maybe the carb isn’t tuned correctly. It idles perfectly tho. I’m lost. Can’t move on to making it pretty until I get it running correctly smh.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

What carb did you put on it? If it’s a dellorto sha, there should be a plastic shim that slips over the intake and into the carb clamp. There’s a number of different sizes so figure out the exact thickness you need, or order a few different ones to have on deck for your next build. Treats has them.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

^this. your shim's just the wrong size.

I've also had a lot of luck making shims. my favorite material is milk jug, it's gas resistant, easy to cut, available and compressible. cut a strip, wrap it as many times as needed and clamp down. electrical tape is NOT a good option though, it's not gas safe, especially not the glue and gets real messy real quick, plus it can flap around or get sucked in places. just a mess.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

I got one off eBay that seems to be an imitation. Bad decision on my part but if I can get past this hump it seems to work fine.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

I’m trying the milk jug as we speak thanks. I’ll let you know how it works out

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Your the man. Milk jug worked like charm

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Ok so the milk jug shim fits perfect and the carb snug as can be but the bike isn’t pulling at all when I take it off the stand. It runs like a champ on the stand tho. I’m praying it’s not a trans or clutch issue. I pray that it’s that eBay carb I bought for 15$ but I’m probably not that lucky. Any thoughts?????

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Did you jet the new carb?

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

No, I’m hoping that’s the problem. Praying it’s not the trans

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Tune that thing. Get the right jet and you should be fine

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

It's the carb man...minerelli is a single speed..as long as it not hearing crunchy crunch clankey grinding noise ur probably fine...

I wouldn't even call it a transmission...just a gear on a shaft running off the clutch.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Thanks a lot. How would I know what’s the correct size jet is for it?

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Bone stock I believe jetting is typically like 54-56 or something on the 14.12 dell, but I could be wrong and there are factors that will make it vary. Who knows what you’ve got in that shitty cheapo carb for a jet. Be gentle taking it apart, the pieces are usually soft and frail on those. pull the jet and see what number is stamped on it.

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

Lemme get a pass on that. I know I screwed up with that thing. I’m new to this but learning fast. I need a local spot that I can go and grab parts from. Do you know any in NewJersey?

Re: Need help with my Lazer Sport50

2nd stroke if you wanna get to NYC, and the moped warehouse guys are by Hackensack or something but don't have like a real shop. much better idea is post in GenForum and find some local fellas to meet up with and wrench, bring some Naturdays
