I’m pulling off my av7 variator and it is being a bitch. I pulled the cover with the mbk puller, then the c clip in the middle. The variator still won’t come off. What further do I have to do?

Remove washer/shim then another circlip but its opposite (spread instead of squeeze).
snap-on makes a great reversible snap ring pliers...$$$$/????...used on eBoob $15 so every one can stop bitchin/cryin'/whinin' that snap-on is to0Oo0o expensive.
I picked up a set of OLD snap ring pliers at a yard sale for a buck and a half .
They work great . ;)

yes, that circlip is a bitch...i ground down the tips on a pair of hemostats and then managed to get it out and back in...still a pain tho'
snap-on true arc/ snap ring pliers are longer & thinner...
and don't forget the 90* degree bent style...
they make a very useful glove for mechanics now...called mechanics gloves...they are prolly @ wallysmart.
oil & grease don't generally lead to infection though.
aluminum slivers are a real treat jammed in your finger nails...SO0o much of a treat!
