Ok gents. And ladies
Ok gents. And ladies
Are we about to see the greatest show on earth ?
Are you kidding me....I wrote a whole thread and then I come to check in and it just says ok gents and ladies....hahaha
I've had that happen .
If you're writing a novel , do it in a place on your device that's secure , like Word Pad or Note Pad or the like . Then copy and paste it to the site of your choice .
And again. Wtf. Time to write on my device. I blame apple. Or trump. Or whoever else that has nothing to do with the site. Haha
Can someone tell me how to time this thing? Woodruff key removed to get it where it needs to be or...
I’m a noob to timing. I have a piston stop and a timing light
So I’m clear,

I ended up slotting the stator more and getting it close to 2.5mm before tdc on idle. Waiting for my temp gauge to see what’s up. How far advanced is too far??? Lol I lost a little top end. If my temps are good when I get the gauge can I just keep advancing till I find the sweet spot?
To me that is too much. I like a lot less timing. I set it to 1.8mm BTDC.
You might be heat soaking the piston causing less power up top.
I put a mark on the flywheel and find where that mark fires. Then mark the case. Find where it is actually firing using a timing tool. Take flywheel off. Set the crank to the right position then line the marks up and reattach the flywheel. Then check again to make sure it is right.
The cdi has a curve of 7 degrees. They advised me of 2.5mm with the parmakit cdi to help with cooling. Again I don’t have a temp gauge yet so idk. I’m open for suggestions for sure.
I have heard of people setting it that high but I never had any good results with timing over 2mm BTC. I always set it at 1.8 with Tomos even with the Parmakit CDI. If your riding around town you won’t get into the upper RPMs where it will retard enough to cool it off.
I wouldn’t experiment anymore until you got a temp gauge. In the end you want a good ratio of power with temps below 400*f
